You need to know transmitter power in dbm (0 dbm is 1 milliwatt), transmitter antenna gain in db's, space loss, receiver antenna gain in db's, and receiver sensitivity in dbm's. Understand you want to have a 10db margin or more

If your using an RF cable you may need to tune the channel in. You'll be better off using a composite lead.
