If I have an LCD TV but dont want cable, how do I watch my local, free channels?

Someone I work with has a big screen LCD TV but feels that he isnt home enough to warrant the expense of cable. He would however like to watch the local, free TV channels(CBS, NBC, FOX). In an analog TV, you would need an antenna, how would you go about doing this with an LCD?

You can use channel 3 or 4 or the A/V inputs to get the stations in your area.

If he thinks he needs to buy gear (antenna, converter, whatever), he should just go into any TV store and talk to them. With the switch over happening so recently, the employees in stores are all over this stuff right now. They've had to spend the better part of the first half of the year dealing with it.

You could try an indoor digital antenna (with amplifier) and do a channel scan with the TV..(Make sure the TV is set to 'Antenna' in settings or channels). If you are within 20 miles of the TV towers, you may get several channels..Weak signals will not appear. You would have to go with a more elaborate outdoor antenna. A digital TV needs an antenna just like an analog TV..

You can still use an antenna and a digital converter box, to watch local, free channels.

Can i use wireless antenna for Gps?

I have used both the patch and the heliax with equal success, but new GPS receivers using the SiRF 2 or SiRF3 engine is hot enough to not require an external antenna.

I drive a 98 Volvo S70 T5, came with 236hp stock, ferrita performance exhaust, k&n intake, some ecu upgrades and it makes around 300hp. I can get to 60 in 5.5 seconds tops. I still have the silencer so it doesn't sound like a lown mower. My car is black with black rims and limo tinted windows, stock spoiler and I took the antenna out and put on the small mound antenna they have on the 2-3 year old accords.

You should report it to the police and they will most likely classify it as vandalism. They will dust for prints and talk to some of the people in your neighborhood, in case someone saw something. A ladybug is darker anyways so it'd look better on a brunette where a bumblebee has light features and wouldn't look harsh against blonde.

Why don't the makers of digital boxes put a ground wire with there plug?

I can't get steady reception and if you touch the antenna it comes in steady which grounds the signal so why can't the manufactures just put a ground wire in the plug.

how to scan successfully for channels o my vizio hd tv?

i have a cox cable connection on my vizio hd tv screen i attached the cable to the wall and to the tv then went to tv and scanned for channels... well it takes a while to scan but doesn't find any channel's .. does anyone know if i have to change the in put to TV,AV1,AV2,COMP,RGB,HDMI1,HDMI2 or the source to cable or antenna (it seems pretty obvious but this stuff seems so confusing i dont even know where to start anymore) o and im pretty sure its not an hd cable

It is not necessarily true that a Vizio television does not have a qam tuner and even without it it should pick up some channels just not high def the tv should be on TV and you should do the scan under cable not antenna check the box to see if the tv has a qam tuner to recieve hd channels

Well going straight out of the wall without a box will not let you pick up chanels unless your TV has some sort or tuner (quam or some sort, which a vizio will not) so if you do not want to pay for an HD box or anything like that you can get some cheap rabbit ears/intenna and you can pick up HD local channels and some others and will look a LOT better than straight coax cable.

You will have to go to source and cable for the tv to scan all the channels and put it on it's memory.
